Chapter Twelve
"Apparently, we have a voucher client for our pet photography," Jacko said as he sniffed the pot of food Bizzy was preparing on the stove later that day. "Hmmmm... Clearly you are a lover of garlic. A girl after my own Italian heart."
Bizzy added more salt and a little oregano, then stirred. "We haven't even done any advertising." She scooped up some of the dinner concoction from the steaming pot and served them both, setting the bowls on the TV dinner tables. They were both hungry and dug in.
"Yum. This is good! What's it called?"
"Musgo stew," Bizzy replied. âAnd look,â she said pointing to the green noodles, âI made zoodles. Healthy alternative to pasta.â
Jacko looked at her with a puzzled look. âWhat is musgo stew, and what is a zoodle?â
"Whatever is still in the fridge by Thursday must go. And a zoodle is just a zucchini noodle,â Bizzy said. "You might want to top it off with some Parmesan cheese."
Jacko shook some cheese onto the stew and sniffed. "My compliments to the chef. Smells delicious. Hey, did the carbonara go in here?"
Bizzy smiled and sucked in a zoodle. âI ate that for breakfast.â Between mouthfuls, Bizzy asked, "I think weâve done a great job with the animals weâve photographed so far, but is there anything different about pet photography? "
"Well, I'm betting it's a lot like people. Except instead of cheese and crackers for snacks, we use pet treats." Bizzy always liked to have snacks available for her clients. Fruit, nuts, coffee, sparkling water, and, for the special client, maybe a little bubbly.
Bizzy smiled. "Well that sounds simple enough. Who is the dog?"
"Apollo, the Bullmastiff."
"And who is the human component?"
"Not sure who the human is. He said he received a voucher and was coming and Apollo was the dogâs name."
Bizzy nearly choked on a mouthful of the stew as she laughed. "He said he was making an appointment for Apollo?"
"Iâm going to have to get used to this pet stuff. I think he did leave a last name."
The two of them laughed.
"When's the shoot?" asked Bizzy.
"Tomorrow at 10:30. Apparently Apolloâs best times are between 10 to 12. The human has another appointment somewhere at 9:30, but he said he would come right over after that."
"All this info and he never left his name.â Jacko shrugged. âI'll have to ask Edy if she'll let Luigi out."
"Sounds good." Jacko smiled. "I wonder if itâs like Tom and TJ. Maybe the owner named the dog after him. I mean, is this a trend? Owners naming dogs after themselves?"
"Remind me again who I named Luigi after?"
"My grandfather. And you said you liked the name."
Bizzy smiled. "Going over to Edy's real quick."
"It's never quick when you go over there. But she can probably use a friendly shoulder right now. I'll clean up around here." He peered at all the dishes and pots and pans. âAnd this was a leftover meal?â
Bizzy flew out the door without looking back. She called in through Edy's screen door. "Knock, knock!"
She could see the brief outline of Edy frozen like a statue on her chair.
